About Choice Art 2006

Choice Art 2006 is an auction of contemporary art to benefit Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, Planned Parenthood of Nassau County, and Planned Parenthood of New York City.

Through this event we hope to raise public awareness and support for Planned Parenthood's vital mission to advance and protect reproductive rights and health.

Choice Art 2006 comes at a crucial time as we experience what amounts to an all-out assault on reproductive rights and services in the United States.   When the U.S. Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade 33 years ago, it affirmed the right to privacy, a vital constitutional protection for all women regardless of their background or economic status. Since that time, anti-choice activists have systematically challenged and chipped away at the protections established in Roe v. Wade, in their attempt to limit access to safe, legal abortion services, as well as to the contraceptive services and information that reduce the need for abortion.  For the first time since Roe, anti-choice politicians are in control of the White House and Congress.  And now, with a new Supreme Court in place, women's health and safety are in even greater jeopardy and the very future of choice is in question.
