Subject: Healthy Teens Act

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Abstinence-only programs have failed our teens, and we're facing nothing less than a health crisis in Florida. Teens don't have the information they need to make safe, responsible decisions about sex. We can't let their well-being fall by the wayside when the next legislative session begins. Guarantee the sex ed they need by voting for - or even better, co-sponsoring - the Healthy Teens Act.

If you're one of the many principled leaders who took a stand in support of the Healthy Teens Act, I want to express my deepest thanks. However if you did not back the Healthy Teens Act, I hope that you'll learn about the dangerous impact one-sided sex ed is having on Florida's teens.

The time has come for Florida sex education standards to ensure that all teens learn potentially life-saving facts from trusted and responsible sources. Teens need and deserve sex ed that includes information about abstinence, AND about protection from diseases and pregnancy. And that's what the Healthy Teens Act would guarantee in public schools.

The vast majority of Floridians, myself included, support the comprehensive sex ed that the Healthy Teens Act guarantees. If you haven't already, it's time to heed your constituents' call and back the Act.

Sincerely,

Background Information

We're facing nothing less than an epidemic in Florida - the rate of unwanted teen pregnancies and STDs is unconscionable.

We have the power to turn things around, but we're facing a vocal minority of abstinence-only advocates. We need as many people as we can to tell their lawmakers that comprehensive sex ed is a matter of life and death.

Why not take a second to send this quiz to your friends, family, and co-workers? See if they can pass the test, and ask them to sign the open letter so their lawmakers hear from them too.
