Sex Education Bill passes Senate

Age-appropriate, medically accurate sex education is effective at assisting young people to make healthy decisions about sex and to adopt healthy behaviors.  The current Oregon law relating to sex education is outdated in language and approach to adolescent health.  Age appropriate human growth and development and sex education should be an integral part of health education curriculum in all public schools, and today, Oregon's Senate voted to support legislation ensuring our children receive sex-ed.

Subject: Thank you for passing comprehensive sex education

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Thank you for voting in favor of comprehensive, medically accurate sex education.

The United States continues to have one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the developed world-almost twice as high as those of England, Wales and Canada, and eight times as high as those of the Netherlands and Japan.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, American Medical Association, and the American Public Health Association all support medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education to protect our youth and keep our children healthy.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
