According to the CDC, Alabama is #11 in the nation in teen births. We are also #4 in both chlamydia and gonorrhea, which can cause infertility if untreated.
I believe that:
Prevention is the best method of reducing sexually transmitted infections, unintended pregnancy and the need for abortion.
It is time to get to the root of these issues by bringing comprehensive sex education to Alabama schools and increasing access to affordable contraceptives.
Laws restricting access to abortion do nothing to reduce unintended pregnancy or the need for abortion.
