What's At Stake?

Alabama Prevention Petition

Already, six bills have been introduced in the 2007 Alabama legislative session that are detrimental to the health of women and teens.

Bills SB399, SB59, HB329 and HB128 are attempts by anti-choice legislators to criminalize abortion.

HB128 would attempt to define life as beginning at conception, laying the groundwork for the overturn of Roe v. Wade by elevating the status of a fetus to that of a person.

In addition, the Alabama legislature has introduced the following bills:

HB314 would require that any physician providing abortion services have admitting privileges to a local hospital.  This bill is introduced year after year, and it is an attempt by anti-abortion legislators to place unreasonable barriers in the way of clinic operators.

SB14 proposes to create the "Parents' Access to Medical Information Act," giving custodial and noncustodial parents and legal guardians access to most medial records.  No law can force families to communicate and sadly, some teenagers live in dangerous homes.  This bill endangers those teens by potentially providing abusive adults with sensitive medical information.

Help us let the Alabama Legislature know that this sort of legislation is unacceptable by signing on to our Prevention First petition!
