We're sorry, this alert is no longer available.
The short explanation of this alert was:
On January 23, an Eckerd's pharmacist in Denton refused to fill a sexual assault victim's prescription for emergency contraception (EC), because he thought it ended a life, which is not true.
The experience this young woman went through to fill a legally prescribed and FDA-approved medication is deplorable and should not have happened. Last session the Texas Legislature had the opportunity to stop something like this from happening by passing a bill requiring that all sexual assault victims receive EC in the emergency room-instead they did nothing.
Please send a message to your state elected officials. Let them know you are outraged at what happened in Denton and that when the EC in the ER bill comes before them again in 2005 Legislative Session, you expect them to act on it.
