TAKE ACTION FOR PREGNANT WOMEN IN BALTIMORE

Nobody should have medical information withheld from them. The last thing pregnant women need is misinformation about their birth control options and comprehensive information withheld from them.

Right now, in Baltimore City, women who walk into limited-service pregnancy centers are not told about all of their pregnancy options. These "pro-life" centers provide pregnancy-related services, but will not provide or refer for birth control or abortion.

We must act now because opposition is mounting - take action NOW!

We can make Baltimore City the first in the nation to require these centers to post signage clearly informing patients of these limitations.

Email your City Council Representative and tell them you support this important, commonsense legislation.

Talking Points

As a respected, trusted health care provider, Planned Parenthood of Maryland is very concerned that women in Baltimore City receive evidence-based, non-judgmental information about their reproductive health.

Every woman deserves to know what to expect when they walk in the door to a limited-service pregnancy center (LSPC).

Planned Parenthood of Maryland does more than any other organization to prevent unintended pregnancy.  LSPCs, on the other hand, often discourage women from using basic contraception, leaving them vulnerable to unintended pregnancy.

The last thing women need is misinformation about their birth control options and comprehensive information withheld from them. (Nobody should have medical information withheld from them.)

The majority of LSPCs in Baltimore City are run by Care Net. Care Net’s document Commitment of care and competence for its LSPCs specifically states that its sites do not offer, recommend or refer for abortions or abortifacients, yet this is withheld from women who come seeking their services.
