Congress is working right now to come to agreement on health care reform legislation. FPA's role in this reform process is to ensure that comprehensive reproductive health services remain available for all women and families. This is a critical time when Members of Congress need to know your views on this important issue.
Anti-choice forces and lawmakers are continuing their dangerous attempts to halt our efforts, threatening to take away women's access to essential services like cancer screenings, contraception and abortion and to limit access to essential community providers.
Time is of the essence. The public and Congress need to know that millions of women across the country depend on essential community health centers for their reproductive health care and, in many cases, for their primary health care.
Writing a letter to the editor of your local papers can have a big impact. And, sending a letter is easy. In just a few clicks you can send a personalized letter to your local newspaper. Please take a moment to help spread the word about how important it is to include essential community providers in health care reform.
Make it personal. Feel free to include a line in your letter identifying your role in your community, such as: "As a physician..." or "As a volunteer..." or As a board member..." or "As a young woman in this community..."
We will provide you with feedback. FPA receives activity reports on responses to our email requests, as well as copies of the letters you send. If we have any recommendations for your future letter-to-the-editor efforts, we'll be sure to share them with you.
