The short explanation of this alert was:

The Reproductive Health Act has been introduced in the Senate and is expected to be introduced in the Assembly. Your elected officials need to know you support this important piece of legislation because anti-choice advocates are voicing strong opposition. Email your legislators today!
Please let your Senator and Assemblymember know right away that you support RHA! In 1970, three years before Roe v. Wade, New York was one of the first states to permit safe, legal abortion—a great step forward for women’s health. While the law was groundbreaking at the time, it does not contain an exception to protect a woman's health, and the law is housed in New York’s criminal codes.
The Reproductive Health Act will codify Roe v. Wade. The health exception in the Reproductive Health Act is crucial because it protects a woman's life and health by guaranteeing she can have an abortion if her pregnancy poses a risk to her health.
And, current state law deals with abortion as a potential crime by regulating it as part of the criminal code. RHA establishes abortion care as a medical and public health issue, just like every other medical procedure, not as a potential crime.
Make sure your State Senator and Assembly Members know that Women’s Health Matters! Send an email demonstrating your support for the Reproductive Health Act.
