The short explanation of this alert was:

House Resolution 536 (HR 536) is a proposed constitutional amendment to establish the "personhood" of each citizen from fertilization until natural death. HR 536’s implications are so broad that HR 536 could potentially ban abortion in Georgia, as well as ban certain forms of contraception and prevent women from utilizing assisted reproductive technology. Bottom line, this bill puts politics above the health and safety of women.

Please sign the below petition and join people all across Georgia who believe that a woman’s personal medical decisions should be made by her, in consultation with her doctor. If politicians in Georgia truly cared about preventing unintended pregnancies, they would work with Planned Parenthood to increase access to prevention initiatives like birth control and sex education. This amendment does nothing to prevent unintended pregnancy and the need for abortion.
