The 2010 Legislative "short session" is under way and anti-choice lawmakers and activists feel they are gaining momentum to push their agenda for "Choose Life" license plates in North Carolina!

In fact, a rally is being held NEXT WEEK in Raleigh where anti-choice forces are mounting pressure on lawmakers to pass their "Choose Life" License Plates bill which would essentially create a state sanctioned funding stream to organizations that give pregnant women biased or even deceptive counseling on their reproductive options.

What is a "Choose Life" License Plate?

• These license plates are specialty plates that would bear an anti-choice message. Individuals who wish to purchase the plate would pay a fee above the cost of a standard license plate.
• The revenue generated from the sale would then be funneled to non-profit, anti-choice organizations, including so-called "crisis pregnancy centers" that promise comprehensive medical advice and services but deliver anti-choice propaganda. Any organization that mentions abortion as a neutral option - including counseling or referrals - is specifically prohibited from receiving any of the funds.
