Last Saturday, as the U.S. House voted on healthcare reform legislation, they included an amendment that would prohibit abortion coverage in any public health plan and create a quagmire of restrictions in private plans.
In essence, the House has now included a ban on abortion coverage for millions of American women—most of whom have such coverage today.
Our elected officials cannot – and should not – allow anti-choice extremists to hold healthcare reform hostage. While the Stupak restrictions have been included in the House bill, there is still a chance to remove them in the final bill.
Send a message today to President Obama and urge him to stand with us in protecting women's health in healthcare reform—because no woman should be worse off under healthcare reform than she is today.
