Governor Culver recently sent a letter of opposition to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt calling for a rejection of the new Bush Administration rule defining birth control as abortion.

This rule change would have devastating effects for women in Iowa and across the country.  Defining birth control as abortion is completely inaccurate.  This is a move routed in ideology and not science.

The adminstration is trying to change the rules without going through the legitimate legislative process. 

Take a few minutes to send a letter of thanks to Governor Culver for taking a strong stance for Iowa women and understanding that contraception is a necessary and essential aspect of a healthy lifestyle.
