The short explanation of this alert was:

Minnesota Update: Sex Ed Legislation Passes through House Health Care Committee

For those of us that care about Minnesota’s youth and their need to be safe and healthy, the hearing yesterday was especially exciting because it represented the first time the issue of Sex Ed was dealt with at the legislature in terms of its public health implications. Getting the issue before legislators who had not previously heard about the behavior change possible with a comprehensive approach to Sex Ed, this was a breakthrough indeed.  Sex Ed programs provide information that Minnesota youth need to be safe and healthy.

As the Responsible Family Life and Sexuality Education bill starts its path through the Minnesota legislature this year, it is important to thank the legislators who stand up for the notion of empowering and protecting our teens as well as the leaders who made it possible.  So please take a minute today to thank Chair, Rep. Thissen for his leadership on this bill yesterday in the House Health Care and Human Services Policy and Oversight Committee.
