Victory in St. Lucie

Great News!

St. Lucie County Schools Superintendent Michael Lannon and the school board voted on December 11, 2007 to adopt a new sex education curriculum, Get Real About AIDS!  Please thank St. Lucie school officials for putting PREVENTION FIRST!

Use the link on this page to send a copy of your email to other school boards telling them to follow St. Lucie County's lead. Urge them to adopt comprehensive sex education so we can have Healthy Teens across South Florida!

Talking Points

·      Teenagers need to know how to protect themselves against unintended pregnancy and HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections.  They need factual information to make responsible decisions.

·      We need education programs in our schools that will keep teens healthy — by including information about abstinence as well as contraception, healthy communication, responsible decision making, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections.

·      Abstinence-only programs deny teenagers medically accurate information about birth control and sexually transmitted infections.
