Please vote no on the Pence amendment that would strip Planned Parenthood of all Title X funding.

Without Planned Parenthood operating in this key role as a family planning safety net provider, the Title X program would fail miserably at reaching its goal of improving women?s health, lowering the rate of unintended pregnancies and decreasing infant mortality and morbidity.

The Pence Amendment is an unconstitutional restriction. The amendment would single out Planned Parenthood for exclusion from the Title X program because we engage in constitutionally-protected conduct, separate and apart from our participation in the Title X program. As such, the Pence amendment is at odds with the principles repeatedly articulated by the United States Supreme Court ? including in Rust v. Sullivan, a case involving the Title X program ? and is unconstitutional. Although Planned Parenthood advocates for access to abortion, and some Planned Parenthood health centers provide abortion services, no Title X funds are used to provide abortion.

The amendment is fundamentally anti-woman and will sabotage the reproductive health care services they rely on, as well as the intent of the Title X program.
