Broadus Pharmacy
Dispense Birth Control Not Discrimination!
What would you do if you walked into your pharmacy to fill your prescriptions and your pharmacist--instead of filling your prescription--handed you a letter stating that he is "morally opposed" to filling your prescription? Now imagine that this is the ONLY pharmacy in town and the next closest pharmacy is 80 miles away. Sound like a sad story from decades ago? Unfortunately, this is happening today all over the country, even in Montana.
The only pharmacist in Broadus, Montana suddenly decided that he would no longer dispense birth control, a basic form of healthcare for women across America. Women in this community must now travel to the nearest town--80 miles away--if they wish to continue using their prescriptions. But you can do something about it.
Planned Parenthood of Montana is working closely with Broadus community members, the Board of Pharmacy, and will work in the 2009 Legislative session to develop a plan that would ensure women in this town and every town in Montana will have access to doctor-prescribed healthcare.

Subject: Dispense Healthcare!
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Dear Montana Board of Pharmacy:
We, the undersigned, stand with the women and couples of Broadus, Montana. We understand that birth control is basic healthcare and that 98% of women access birth control at some point in their lives. When a pharmacist decides to stop dispensing a drug of any sort, he is limiting healthcare options in an already fragile system of healthcare delivery. Please consider working on a solution to ensure that ALL women in ALL cities, towns, and villages across our state have access to basic healthcare.
