Tell Congress to repeal President Bush's global gag rule!
Six years ago, on his first day in office, President Bush issued an executive order reinstating the global gag rule on international family planning assistance. The policy denies U.S. federal family planning funding to any foreign nongovernmental organization (NGO) that uses any of its own private, non-U.S. dollars to
- provide advice and information to a patient regarding the availability of abortion, including counseling and referral for abortion services
- advocate to make or keep abortion legal in their own country
- conduct a public information campaign regarding the availability of abortion
- provide legal abortion services
- procure or distribute equipment intended for use in inducing abortion
But Congress has the chance to repeal this egregious policy with the Global Democracy Promotion Act. Urge your Representative to support this bill!
