The 2010 State Budget

Tell your Representative and Senator that enough is enough. It’s time to find a budget solution that does more than slash services like health care, education and family planning to Michigan families. The legislature must find a solution that builds a better future for our state – that includes reforming Michigan government and modernizing our tax system. A solution that does not wipe out critical state programs, leaving our citizens with no place to turn for basic services and health care needs.

Subject: Vote NO on DCH budget that does not prioritize women's health

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I urge you to make women's health a priority and restore the Healthy Michigan Fund in the DCH budget. Without full restoration of the Healthy Michigan Fund, including family planning, tens of thousands of Michigan women and men will have no place to receive their basic health care. It is time to pass a balanced budget that invests in Michigan's future and protects vital services for the citizens in our state. I support finding a solution to the budget crisis that includes raising revenue through new fees and closing tax loopholes, not by slashing critical services.

Be bold and stand up to further cuts to health care for struggling families.

Sincerely,

Background Information

The family planning program is just one of many that is expected to take huge cuts next year. We may lose nearly 50% of the program and be forced to close clinics, layoff staff, reduce clinic hours and increase fees – leaving already vulnerable patients with fewer options and higher costs.

Enough is enough with budget cuts.  We need real leadership to protect the families of Michigan and our future.
