Dear
Voter,
The stakes are high in this election. As a trusted
advocate for tens of thousands of women and young adults who
need critical health care and education, Planned Parenthood
Advocates of Virginia has a strong interest in electing an
attorney general who supports women's health and reproductive
rights. This fall, there is only one candidate that fits that
description: Steve Shannon.
Planned Parenthood
Advocates of Virginia (PPAV) enthusiastically endorses Steve
Shannon for the next attorney general of
Virginia.
As a member of the Virginia House of
Delegates, Steve Shannon has received a 100 percent
rating on his voting record from PPAV. He has
consistently supported quality health care for women,
comprehensive sex education to keep our young people healthy,
and a commitment to investing in prevention programs, including
family planning services and breast cancer screenings. He's
exactly the kind of leader Virginia's women, men, and families
need in Richmond.
At a time when more and more families
in Virginia are uninsured and under financial strain, we can't
afford to elect officials who will create more barriers to
affordable health care. Unfortunately, Ken Cuccinelli has made
clear he would use the office of attorney general as a platform
for enforcing his dangerous ideology. From his attempts to
defund Planned Parenthood to his votes to limit access to safe,
affordable reproductive health care, Cuccinelli has
taken extreme positions against women's health during
his tenure as a state senator.
It's more
important than ever to elect an attorney general who will join
with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia in our
work and ensure that all women have access to safe,
high-quality, affordable health care. That candidate is
Steve Shannon.
We urge you to vote for Steve
Shannon for Virginia attorney general on Election Day, November
3.
