Senator Casey Votes AGAINST Mikulski Amendment
At such a critical time, Senator Casey voted AGAINST women's health. Help us make sure he hears about it!
Despite calls from 200 supporters on the day of the vote, Senator Bob Casey was the lone Democrat who voted AGAINST Sen. Mikulski's (D-Maryland) Women's Health Amendment offered in the Senate HELP committee on health care reform. The Mikulski amendment provides coverage for women's preventative health care and ensures patients' access to essential community providers like Planned Parenthood.
Will you take a moment to either call Senator Casey in his Washington office, or send the email below to express your disappointment?
To make a call, please call Senator Casey at 202-224-6324 and give his office the message below.

Subject: Mikulski Amendment
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
This email is to express my disappointment with your vote against the Mikulski amendment #201 of the health care reform bill. With this vote, you turned your back on the women and families of Pennsylvania.
I respect your position as a pro-life Democrat but the Mikulski amendment did not, in any way, mandate abortion coverage. The Women's Health Amendment is focused on women being able to access a broad range of health care providers in-network for basic, preventive health care services. The providers identified in this amendment (community health centers, public hospitals, and women's health centers) serve millions of patients across the United States.
More than 90% of what Planned Parenthood does is prevention and primary care. That is why Planned Parenthood is included in the category of essential community providers. A recent Guttmacher study found that more than six in 10 patients who receive care at a women's health center like Planned Parenthood consider it their primary source of health care.
At this critical time, we need to work together to be sure that women aren't worse off after health care reform than they started. Please support Planned Parenthood as an essential community provider, and continue your record of support for preventative women's health care as we continue toward true health care reform in America.
Sincerely,
|
