Senator Specter votes in support of real Sex Education!

Senator Specter votes in support of real Sex Education!

Last week brought great news for advocates of comprehensive sex education programs! The Senate Appropriations Committee, including Pennsylvania's own Senator Arlen Specter, voted to end funding for failed abstinence-only-until-marriage programs and to put new resources into programs which are medically accurate and scientifically proven. This is a great victory for our teens, parents and responsible educators.

We applaud Senator Spector and his fellow members of the Senate Appropriations Committee for putting teen health and well-being above politics and ideology! This is a huge step toward ending harmful abstinence-only-until-marriage programs and giving young people the information they need to make healthy and informed decisions about their bodies.

Please let Senator Specter know you support funding for medically-accurate and proven EFFECTIVE sex education programs and encourage him to continue to work for healthy teens in the future by signing the letter we've provided.

Subject: Sex Education Vote in Appropriations Committee

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing you today to thank you for your vote to include comprehensive sex education funding and for removing funding from abstinence-only-until-marriage programs in last week's Senate Appropriations Committee.

This is a welcome change and one that will benefit teens, parents, and responsible educators throughout the country.

Specifically in Pennyslvania, teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections are on the rise, and there is a teen health crisis nationwide. Scientifically-based programs like the ones which will receive federal funding under the new plan, will directly combat this worrisome trend.

I encourage you to continue working for the safety and healthy well-being of teens in the future. Again, thank you!

Sincerely,
