Congressman Mike Doyle Stands Up For Women's Reproductive Health!

Last week an anti-choice amendment to the health care reform bill was rejected by members of the House committee on Energy and Commerce, including Pennsylvania Representative Mike Doyle!

The defeated amendment allowed for health care reform legislation to deny coverage of abortion, except when a woman's life is in danger or her pregnancy resulted from rape or incest.

This measure would have dramatically restricted access to legal abortion and was an assault on women's health care.

Please join us in thanking Representative Mike Doyle for standing up for women's health care and encourage him to continue to be a voice for equality in heath care reform.

Subject: Vote on Pitts Amendment

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am emailing today to express my thanks and support for your vote against restricting access to legal abortions in the health care package.

Access to legal abortion in the health care package will ensure that women are provided with a full range of quality reproductive health care options. Your vote in the Energy and Commerce Committee signifies your dedication to the health and well-being of women and your commitment to equality in health care reform.

Women should not be worse off after health care reform, and we ask for your continued support as health care reform moves forward. Also, millions of women in the United States rely on Planned Parenthood as a health care provider; for some women, their only health care provider. I also urge you to support Planned Parenthood as an essential community provider which would be included in the network for the public option.

I am grateful for your vote against restricting legal abortions, and ask for you to continue to support women's reproductive health care in the upcoming months as more and more amendments require your attention. Again, thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
