Protect Reproductive Health Care!
Just when we thought the Indiana General Assembly was sailing along smoothly, women's reproductive health care got hit with a double blow. TOMORROW (Tuesday, February 3), upon adjournment of the Senate, the Health and Provider Services Committee will hear two pieces of legislation that will impede access to Hoosier women and men's reproductive health care services.
Please take a look at the information on both pieces of legislation, Senate Bills 89 and 90, and take a minute to send a letter to your state senator letting she or he know that you are a Hoosier citizen who does not want legislators to cut off access to reproductive health care in your state.
Senate Bill 89: Physician Admitting Privileges: This bill would require that a physician who performs an abortion have admitting privileges at a hospital in the county where the abortion is performed or in an adjacent county.
Senate Bill 90: Various Abortion Matters: This bill would mandate counseling to women seeking abortions, including stating that there is evidence that life begins at conception.

Subject: Please vote against restricting Hoosier reproductive health care!
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
On Tuesday, you will be asked to vote for or against two bills that would impede access to reproductive health care in Indiana, Senate Bills 89 and 90. I am writing to ask that you vote AGAINST both of these bills.
Senate Bill 89 would mandate that doctors who perform abortions have admitting privileges within the county where they perform the procedure or adjacent counties. There are currently only five counties in Indiana where abortions are performed. In order for abortion to remain the safe, legal and rare procedure that it is, please vote against further restricting access.
Senate Bill 90 also works against women's reproductive health by demanding that doctors tell women seeking abortions information based on religious viewpoints, not scientific evidence. Please remember to leave religion out of legislation and vote AGAINST this bill as well.
I appreciate your time and hope that you too agree that the Hoosier state is in a time of economic turmoil and citizens need you to focus on issues that benefit us, not restrict us.
Sincerely,
|
