Urgent-Please Tell Your Legislator Not to Defund Planned Parenthood!
On Saturday, State Representative Jackie Walorski (R- Jimtown) announced her plan to attempt to defund Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPIN) on Monday, February 23, 2009 in the Indiana General Assembly.
Low-income women and men in Indiana need your help now - please tell your legislator to vote NO on Rep. Walorski’s amendments.
What happens here in Indiana if PPIN loses its government funding? About 49,000 low-income Hoosiers lose basic health care - lifesaving annual exams, pap tests, breast exams, sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment and birth control. Seventy-four percent of PPIN patients fall at or below 150 percent of poverty and often have no where else to turn. The last thing Indiana needs right now, in this economic crisis, is for less-fortunate Hoosiers to lose access to health care.
Please taking action by sending the letter below or a similar one in your own words to your state representative. You can also call he or she at (800) 382-9842.
