September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month and
Planned Parenthood of Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta is
encouraging women to visit their health care providers to
receive basic, preventive cervical cancer screenings and
treatments to help save their lives. Cervical cancer is
preventable with regular Pap tests, and for women ages 12-26,
the HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccine offers protection
against four strains of HPV that cause most cervical cancers and
genital warts. Please make sure that you and the women in your
life visit a health care provider to receive basic, preventive
cervical cancer screenings and treatments. Visit our website to
find a Health
Center near you.
I'd like to send a special thanks to everyone who
attended our September 9th Cocktails for a Cause in New
Orleans. Over sixty supporters came out to learn more
about our health care services and advocacy work. A big
shout out to our host, Dr. Swati Shah and the St. James Cheese
Company for a delightful and tasty evening!
