Dear Friends:
We're expanding our outreach efforts to provide
free preventive health workshops to Latinos in the Greater New
Orleans Area and we need your help to spread the word.
Latinos are a vital and growing part of the New
Orleans community and yet there are few
resources available to them. Planned Parenthood feels it
is imperative to reach out to this community to empower them
through education so they can live healthier lives. Our
New Orleans Education Outreach Program is tailored for
Spanish-speaking populations in our community.
The educational program we are offering is a
workshop called “Cuentos” or “Stories”.
The workshop uses a simple yet engaging teaching tool designed
to encourage informal discussion and greater understanding of
health topics. Planned Parenthood staff facilitates the
workshop with groups as small as five or as large as 20-30. The
presentation and discussion time can vary, but on average
workshops run one to two hours and can easily be tailored
to fit the needs, age, and gender of the
audience. Today more than ever, access to accurate
health information is a priceless resource.
If you know of a business, employer or
community organization in the New Orleans area that might be
interested in participating in this program, please pass
this information along.
At Planned Parenthood we help individuals and
families make educated health decisions by providing a wide
range of affordable health care and educational services in a
non-judgmental, unbiased, and confidential setting.
You can help the changing Latino population
receive the education and health care they need so they
can lead healthier and more productive
lives.
Please call our Magazine
Street Health Center @ 504-897-9200 for
more information.
All My Best,
Julie Mickelberry Director of Public
Affairs
