Keep Birth Control Affordable!

Two weeks ago the Supreme Court gave politicians the green light to restrict women's access to abortion. Now Congress is restricting women's access to Birth Control!

As a result of a law enacted in January — called the Deficit Reduction Act, or the "DRA" — the price of birth control pills at health centers across the country has doubled, tripled, and or worse. Hundreds of thousands of women across the country are losing access to birth control because they cannot afford this increase in the cost of their pills. This puts women at increased risk of unintended pregnancy and serious health issues.

Subject: Stop Skyrocketing Birth Control Costs -- Fix the Nominal Drug Pricing Problem

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

At health care centers and campus clinics across the country, birth control prices have skyrocketed. The dramatic increase in birth control prices is the result of the change to nominal drug pricing in the Deficit Reduction Act; this law is restricting the ability of safety net providers and campus clinics from offering birth control to women and couples at affordable prices.

For nearly 30 years, federal laws have been in place to help safety net providers and university clinics provide birth control at affordable prices to low-income women and college students. Now, this error in the Deficit Reduction Act has put hundreds of thousands of women at risk of losing their birth control by eliminating those protective laws.

Since the law went into effect in January, at colleges clinics and health centers across the country, birth control prices have doubled or tripled, or worse. For low income women and college students on a budget, the increased cost is making birth control unaffordable and inaccessible.

Birth control is essential to helping women and couples plan healthy families. No woman should be denied birth control because she can't afford it.

Congress must prioritize women's health. I urge you to act immediately to fix the drug pricing problem caused by the Deficit Reduction Act so that all women and families have access to affordable birth control.

Sincerely,
