Mississippi Prevention Petition

Dear Activists:

We need your help!

In 2007, Mississippi legislators passed a measure that would criminalize abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned.  Every year anti-abortion legislators try to inch Mississippi closer to a ban on abortion.  It is time to let Mississippi legislators know that personal, private health care decisions should be made by women, their families, and their doctors - not politicians.

Stand Up for Mississippi Women by signing our Prevention First petition!

The citizens of Mississippi know that if legislators truly care about reducing the number of unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion, they would work with Planned Parenthood to increase access to contraceptives and medically accurate sex education.  Mississippi legislators should stop pushing for dangerous restrictions that threaten women's health and focus on the real issue:  unintended pregnancy.

Criminalizing abortion does nothing to reduced unintended pregnancies or abortion.

Sign the petition to let legislators know that we do not support their efforts to put politics above the health and safety of women by their continued attempts to criminalize and further restrict abortion.

Mississippi legislators need to hear from YOU - make your voice heard and help to protect women's health in Mississippi

Subject: Prevention First for Mississippi!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Dear Mississippi Legislators,

We the undersigned believe that:

Prevention is the best method of reducing unintended pregnancy and the need for abortion.

Laws criminalizing abortion do nothing to actually reduce unintended pregnancy or the need for abortion.

If lawmakers truly care about reducing unintended pregnancy and the need for abortion, they should work with Planned Parenthood towards prevention instead of pushing to criminalize and further restrict abortion.

Background Information

Every year anti-choice legislators try to inch Mississippi closer to a ban on abortion.  It is time to let Mississippi legislators know that personal, private health care decisions should be made by women, their families, and their doctors - not politicians.

Mississippi legislators who truly care about reducing unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion will work with Planned Parenthood towards prevention by increasing access to contraceptives and medically accurate sex education.

With the recent Supreme Court decision on the federal abortion ban, we fully expect anti-abortion lobbyists and activists to push hard for more restrictions on abortion in the next legislation session.  Now is the time to build our strength, and we need you to add your voice in support for prevention, not the criminalization of abortion.

Help us let the Mississippi Legislature know that legislation criminalizing and restricting abortion is unacceptable by signing on to our Prevention First petition!
