Dear friend,
PPANY worked quickly to launch volunteer phone banks across the state to contact voters to make sure they knew about Scott Murphy's pro-choice status and to urge them to the polls. 68 volunteers gave a total of more than 150 hours of their time to make phone calls on behalf of PPANY and Scott Murphy. As a result, thousands of voters were contacted. The Monday before the election we made more than 9,000 "get out the vote" calls to voters. Our volunteers played a critical role in this very close election. Scott Murphy won by just over 600 votes! We're confident that our work and your support made a difference. Parenthood Advocates of New York endorsed Scott Murphy right
from the beginning in the special election to replace Senator
Kirsten Gillibrand in the 20th Congressional District. Murphy
was the only pro choice candidate, and we made sure that the
seat remained pro-choice.
