Reproductive Rights Step Forward and Back in 2009 Legislative Session
With your help we had some major policy victories in the 2009 legislative session! The 2009 - 2011 operating budget cuts the family planning funding by 10% in year one and then cuts it by 70% in year two. That cut is based on a hope that the federal government will fix the Medicaid family planning program before the next legislative session. However, because of your action to save family planning, the legislature included budget language that promises no more than a 10% cut overall to family planning if the federal funding does not increase. Now we need you to take action to make sure the legislature keeps their commitment to family planning.
Let your legislators know what you think about their efforts this session by sending the letter below. Thank you for all of your efforts and support this session!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing to thank you for your efforts this session, and let you know that I'll be counting on you to keep your budget commitments to family planning next session.
I am deeply troubled by the drastic cuts to family planning. However, I do appreciate that you and your fellow legislators have committed to maintaining family planning funds in 2010 if federal funding does not come through. Please know that I expect you to keep that promise in the 2010 session.
Sincerely,
