Planned Parenthood ® of Central Washington
Support Planned Parenthood's Plan to Open a Clinic in Pasco

On Thursday, June 18th at Pasco City Hall, Planned Parenthood requested a permit from the Pasco Planning Commission to open a new Community Health Center in Pasco.  We were met with strong opposition by a small, but very vocal, minority who used scare tactics, threats and extremist language to try and block the expansion of health care services in Pasco.

We need supporters like you to speak out in support of our plans to provide reproductive health care in Pasco.

There are a small group people speaking against our proposed Community Health Center (visit http://www.thenewstribune.com/news/northwest/story/776215.html) - please don't let them speak for the entire Tri-Citities community!

Subject: Please Approve Planned Parenthood's Permit Request

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing in support of Planned Parenthood of Central Washington's permit request to open a new Community Health Center in Pasco.

Planned Parenthood is opening a new clinic in Pasco to meet the needs of a community that, like the rest of the country, lacks access to affordable health care. In addition to alarming public health issues in Pasco, Planned Parenthood is here because of community support and recognition that we provide needed resources to those most at-risk. The Pasco site on Court Street is ideal because of its location on a major thoroughfare; it sits on a bus line; and its affordability.

The bottom line is that by opening a new Community Health Center in Pasco, Planned Parenthood will be getting health care to people who need it in our community.

Please approve Planned Parenthood of Central Washington's permit request.

Thank you.

Talking Points

Planned Parenthood of Central Washington is opening a new clinic in Pasco to meet the needs of a community that, like the rest of the country, lacks access to affordable health care.

In addition to alarming public health issues in Pasco, Planned Parenthood is here because of community support and recognition that we provide needed resources to those most at-risk and provide the health care services the citizens of Pasco need most, which are access to cancer screening, family planning and education.

Health, safety, and prevention are the hallmarks of Planned Parenthood. No one does more than Planned Parenthood to prevent unintended pregnancy and keep women, men and teens healthy and safe.

The Pasco site on Court Street is ideal because of its location on a major thoroughfare; it sits on a bus line and its affordability.

According to the Washington State Department of Health, the teen pregnancy rate is 61.4 per 1,000 females compared to the State rate of 27.6.

Franklin County spends $4.5 million dollars on publicly funded births from unintended pregnancies.
