Planned Parenthood ® of Central Washington
Stand up for Women in Pasco. Write a letter!

In the face of an obvious reproductive health crisis in Franklin County, the Pasco Planning Commission has chosen inaction over the provision of quality, affordable health care.  The women and men of Pasco need health care now and they need you to raise your voice in support of their right to access reproductive health care.

Last month, Planned Parenthood supporters had over twenty-five letters to the editor published in support of our opening a new Pasco location.  We need to continue the call for a sensible solution by the City of Pasco by submitting more letters to the editor.  Even if you have previously submitted a letter, we need you to submit another (the 30 day limit has passed!).

This time, please focus specifically on the Planning Commission's decision to ignore the land-use requirements they are instructed to examine when considering permit applications.  (For more information, read the Tri-City Herald article here:  http://www.tri-cityherald.com/kennewick_pasco_richland/story/649746.html).

If you need assistance writing a letter, or would be willing to submit a letter but are short on time, please contact Brian at Planned Parenthood in Kennewick by emailing griffithb@ppcentwa.org.  He is happy to help!

Background Information

  • Planned Parenthood of Central Washington is dedicated to providing the health care services the citizens of Pasco need most which are access to cancer screening, family planning and education.
  • Franklin County spends $4.5 million dollars on publicly funded births from unintended pregnancies.
  • According to the Washington State Department of Health, the teen pregnancy rate is 61.4 per 1,000 females compared to the State rate of 27.6.
  • The Pasco site on Court Street is ideal because of it’s location on a major thoroughfare; it sits on a bus line and its affordability.
  • There is a health care crisis in America — every day, too many go without the care they need. We need to focus on solutions, not divisive tactics that deny families the medical services they need to stay healthy.
