Greetings,
Yesterday, some members of our Health and Human
Services interim committee decided that instead of a reasonable
debate on reproductive health education, they would directly
attack Planned Parenthood. These members urged the entire Utah
State Legislature to "not consider any person or organization
that promotes, recommends, or teaches high-risk sexual behavior
[through] websites, examples or talks in public
schools."
This
direct attack on Planned Parenthood has us more fired up than
ever before. To quote The Dude, "This aggression will not stand,
man."
So
while some Utah legislators want to
attack Planned Parenthood, our teens are taking action to shape
the reproductive health education debate. They are working with us
to get the word out about the need for more information. Today,
we ask you to help us sponsor a teen
activist. For just $10 you can help us equip a teen
with the tools they need to contact 50 people in each of our
targeted districts.
With your help we will be able to contact over 500 people
throughout Utah to urge them to
support changes to Utah's sex education
curriculum.
To
hear more about sponsoring a teen activist and to have a darn
good time, join us tonight at our Cocktails for a Cause
event. We will be
at Poplar Street Pub (21 yrs. and older) located at 242 South
200 West at 7:00 PM.
If
you can't make it tonight, please donate your $10
here today to sponsor a teen activist. Thank you for helping
PPAC and our teens get out the message that Planned Parenthood
stands for excellence in reproductive health education.
Sincerely,
Melissa Bird
Executive Director
