Greetings,
Because you count!
As a trusted health care provider and educator to
tens of thousands of women and young adults in
Virginia, Planned
Parenthood only endorses candidates who support women's health
care and reproductive rights.
In order to continue building our political strength
and win policy battles in Virginia, we must work to elect a
truly pro-choice Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney
General, as well as members of the House of
Delegates.
For Governor, Creigh
Deeds is our
hands-down choice!
Criegh has always stood with us even when it wasn’t
popular. His
17-year voting record proves he is in favor of protecting
reproductive choice, access to emergency contraception and
women’s health.
His opponent, Bob McDonnell, is opposed to reproductive
choice, even in cases of rape or incest and will do everything
in his power to take
Virginia women
backward.
For Lieutenant Governor, Jody
Wagner has earned
our support! Jody
is an advocate for women’s reproductive rights and wants
to increase healthcare coverage for women and their
families. She is
committed to getting to the root of unintended pregnancy and
will work with Planned Parenthood of Virginia on effective
prevention legislation. On the other hand, Bill Bolling,
Jody’s opponent, is anti-choice and was the tie-breaking
vote in the Senate to de-fund Planned Parenthood! This was bad
public policy that would have been disastrous for the thousands
of women and their families who depend on Planned Parenthood for
their health care services.
For Attorney General, Steve
Shannon has our
backing! Without
fail, Steve has supported quality health care for women,
comprehensive sex education and is committed to investing in
prevention programs.
Unfortunately, if Ken Cuccinelli is elected, he might
succeed in his attempts at defunding Planned Parenthood or
limiting access to safe, affordable reproductive health
care.
Finally, our support for the House of Delegates race
in your district (House District 47) is going to Patrick
Hope. Pat is firmly committed
to protecting a woman’s right to choose, reducing the
number of unintended pregnancies, and ensuring that
contraception is readily available, accessible, and affordable.
Pat states that
“as a member of the Virginia House of
Delegates, I will bring my experience in health care and the law
to champion policies that protect a woman’s privacy and
reproductive rights – including a woman’s right to
choose – in the General
Assembly.”
Stand with PPAV today!
Because this is an off-year
election, EVERY vote will count on November 3.
Help us build our capacity to continue to be an effective
organization and send the message to our elected officials that
we are ready to put the divisive politics of the past behind us
and move forward with common-sense, common-ground solutions to
reproductive health care. The outcome of this
election could not be more important; there is power in your
vote!
