Thank YOUR Representatives for Standing Up for Choice!

Thank Your Legislator for Standing Up for Choice!

On Wednesday February 25th, Represenatives Lopes, Bradley and Ableser took a stand against extremist anti-choice elements in the Arizona Legislature.  They chose to boycott the Health and Human Services Committee that was hearing HB 2564, a draconian anti-choice bill designed to restrict women's access to reproductive health care in our state.  Instead, they joined Planned Parenthood and our community allies for a press conference at the capitol Rose Garden to talk about how harmful this bill would be to women's health if passed.  Planned Parenthood applauds this act of bravery on behalf of the individuals in our state who need these vital health services.

Please take a moment to thank your Representative for standing up for women's choice in our state by signing this thank you petition which Planned Parenthood will deliver to them.

Subject: Thank you for standing up for choice!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As your constituent, I applaud you for standing up and protecting women's health in our state by boycotting today's House Health and Human Services Committee hearing on HB 2564. As you know, this bill is an attempt to restrict women's access to vital health care services in Arizona and just goes too far. I thank you for continuing to be a strong voice and advocate for reproductive health at the Legislature.

Thank you again for your support for these vital issues.

Background Information

In current law, the definition of abortion excludes contraception such as emergency contraception, birth control pills and IUDs that inhibit implantation of a fertilized egg. HB 2564 does not exclude these widely used birth control methods and instead defines them as abortion and makes accessing birth control subject to the provisions in the bill.  Women have relied on birth control for decades to help plan their families. This bill ignores the needs of Arizona families to make the private decision about when to start a family.
