Together, We Did It!
This past January, you begin receiving emails from us on the Healthy Youth Act. At the bottom of most every email we promised: "Together, we will make a difference this legislative session." Yesterday, that proved to be absolutely true! Thursday afternoon, the NC House voted 60-55 to give final approval to the Healthy Youth Act thereby sending it on to its next step-- Governor Perdue's desk to be signed into law! The bill headed to the Governor vastly improves current law and will bring comprehensive sex education into every school district in North Carolina. This means that almost every single 7th, 8th, and 9th grader in our state will be reached with life-saving, accurate information about pregnancy and STI prevention. We can't thank you enough for your dedication, support and the trust you put in Planned Parenthood. We couldn't do it without you! Now we hope you'll join us in thanking another very important group of people-- the 60 NC legislators who voted in favor of the Healthy Youth Act yesterday on the House floor! It's very important that we thank legislators for their courage just as we hold them accountable for their votes to make sure they stand with us in the future! Please join us in thanking these amazing legislators and in enjoying a great victory for young people in North Carolina! Together, we have made a huge difference this legislative session!

- People under 30 accounted for 89 percent of Chlamydia cases and 77 percent of Gonorrhea cases in North Carolina.
