We're Almost at the Finish Line!
We've already asked you to take action once today, but that's how fast things are moving down at the General Assembly these days!
This morning, we asked you to offer your thanks to your Senator if he or she voted in favor of the Healthy Youth Act. The House must now vote to agree with the Senate version of the Healthy Youth Act since the two chambers passed slightly different versions.
We've learned that this vote in the NC House could take place as early as TOMORROW.
The Senate version of the Healthy Youth Act that the House will vote on tomorrow is different than the original version. It is stronger in some ways and superior to current law. Under the new version, nearly all 7-9th graders will get comprehensive sex education, and all school districts would be required to offer it. In addition, “abstinence-only” programs must meet a higher standard in order to be taught and the cumbersome "public hearing process" to get comprehensive sex ed in schools would be eliminated.
Please help us take this final step to bring comprehensive sex education into every single school district in North Carolina. This could be the last step before the finish line-- the Governor's desk!
Together, we have made a huge difference this legislative session!
It's been a long and sometimes bumpy ride working to pass this legislation and we appreciate you sticking it out with us! If you have questions about our Real Sex Ed campaign or about the Healthy Youth Act, feel free to contact Alison at alison.kiser@ppcentralnc.org.

Subject: Please vote to concur on HB 88 The Healthy Youth Act
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing to urge you to vote to concur with the Senate version of HB 88 The Healthy Youth Act.
The Senate version would make comprehensive sex education available to all students and I am confident that this is a step in the right direction to reducing our state's high teen pregnancy and HIV rates.
I know that this sensible, commonsense legislation will educate kids with the tools they need to make healthy choices.
I hope you will stand up for North Carolina's teens by voting to concur on House Bill 88.
Sincerely,
