Yesterday evening, Governor Bev Perdue signed the Healthy Youth Act into North Carolina law!

This is a huge victory for Planned Parenthood and supporters like you but, more importantly, it is a huge victory for the young people of North Carolina and their parents. Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, comprehensive sex education will, by law, be taught in every single school district in North Carolina!

As we celebrate this victory together, please take action and join us in thanking Governor Perdue for recognizing the huge need for this legislation and for REAL sex ed!

You've known for a long time that REAL sex ed has been needed and wanted in North Carolina. With 53 teens becoming pregnant every day in our state and more than 90% of parents saying they want comprehensive sex ed in schools, the timing could not have been better or more critical!

We could not do this work without you, our great activists, and our elected officials willing to stand up for young people. We sincerely thank you and hope that you will join us in thanking the legislators and Governor Perdue who all stood with us this legislative session.

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to thank you for standing up for North Carolina's teens this week by signing the Healthy Youth Act into law.

This law will bring comprehensive sex education to every school district in North Carolina and will help our state begin to address our high teen pregnancy and STD rates.

More than 90% of NC parents have expressed that they want comprehensive sex ed in schools and I appreciate that you listened to those parents, your constituents, and signed this bill into law.
