SB 169 will go before the Senate for a full floor vote TODAY, Thursday, March 12th!!
Senate Bill 169 (SB 169 - Hudgens) – Ethical Treatment of Human Embryos: SB 169 was rewritten in special a subcommittee by Senator Smith. Much of the original language was removed but the revised bill would ban cloning and stem cell research and would elevate the legal status of an embryo to that of a "person". It passed out of the special subcommittee and narrowly passed out of the full Senate Health and Human Services Committee on March 9th and passed out of the Senate Rules Committee with objections on March 11th.
Please ask YOUR SENATOR to vote NO on SB 169!
Couples who are challenged with fertility issues should not have road blocks that interfere with their ability to build their families.
Elevating the legal status of embryos, to that of a “person,” could have random implications and broad, legal and medical ramifications.

Please Oppose SB 169!
I am gravely concerned about the implications of SB 169. This bill would limit couples access to in vitro fertilization. Couples who are challenged with fertility issues should not have road blocks that interfere with their ability to build their families.
Don't make an already emotional experience more challenging for families. Personal and private decisions about infertility treatments should be made by a woman, in consultation with her family and her doctor, not the government or politicians.
SB 169 also elevates the legal status of embryos to that of a "person". Declaring an embryo a person would pose many random implications and broad, legal and medical ramifications.
Please oppose SB 169!
