Attaining the skills necessary to maintain healthy relationships is a major developmental milestone during adolescence. Failure to obtain these skills impacts their relationships well into adulthood. Research tells us that the way teens define relationships and their ability to communicate within their relationships are two important factors in their decisions about sexual activity and contraception use.

Respect, honesty, fidelity, communication, and the absence of violence are all characteristics that teenagers have cited as crucial aspects of healthy relationships. This training is filled with dynamic and thought-provoking activities that help teens to build and strengthen their relationship skills to create the healthy relationships they deserve.

In this four-hour interactive training participants will:

  • review adolescent development and learning styles
  • discuss the changing climate of teen romance
  • experience and practice innovative activities and lesson plans
  • receive concrete lesson plans, activities, and resources

This training will assist teachers in the disciplines of Health, Physical Education and Family Consumer Science to meet NYS Education Standards 1,2, and 3.

Pre-registration is required.
Registration deadline is April 13
Training fee: $25
Fees include materials and light breakfast
