Health Education Bill Being Heard Today
Greetings,
The Joint Committee on Education will be hearing the Health
Education Bill today, and we need you to contact your
legislators to express your support. This legislation
(House Bill 3434 sponsored by State Representative Alice
Wolf, and Senate Bill 218, sponsored by State Senator Harriette
Chandler) will ensure that Massachusetts considers
comprehensive health education, including sex education, to
be a core subject in public schools.
Young people need
access to comprehensive health education in order to make
responsible decisions, prevent disease, and reduce risky
behaviors. Research has demonstrated that offering medically
accurate, age-appropriate health education, is a crucial
component in the prevention of health problems affecting
today’s youth.
Today's economic
climate is clearly a significant obstacle, but the fact remains
that providing comprehensive health education is the responsible
thing to do for students.
Please take a
moment to tell your legislators that you support giving students
the information they need to make informed decisions about how
to lead healthy lives.
As always, thank
you for your support!

Subject: Please Support Health Education Today
Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],
The Joint Committee on Education is hearing, "An Act Relative to Providing Health Education in Schools," (HB 3434, SB 218) today, and I writing to you to ask for your support for these bills.
This legislation will ensure that Massachusetts considers comprehensive health education, including sex education, to be a core subject in public schools.
Young people need access to comprehensive health education in order to make responsible decisions, prevent disease, and reduce risky behaviors. Research has demonstrated that offering medically accurate, age-appropriate health education is a crucial component in the prevention of health problems affecting today's youth.
I certainly understand the economic conditions we face these days, but it is still important that we find a way to uniformly provide this information to students across the Commonwealth.
Please let the Education Committee know that you support HB 3434 and SB 218.
As your constituent, I look forward to receiving your response.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
