Keynote Speaker: We are proud to present as this year's Keynote Speaker Dr. Kenneth Edelin, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Boston University School of Medicine. In 1973, Dr. Edelin was the chief resident at Boston City Hospital. Performing abortions after the Roe v. Wade decision, Dr. Edelin was indicted for manslaughter in 1974 after he surgically terminated a pregnancy. Convicted and sentenced to probation, Dr. Edelin's case drew national attention. He appealed the decision and the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts overturned the conviction on December 17, 1976. A national leader in Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Dr. Edelin chaired the PPFA Board of Directors from 1989-1992.
