Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Health Center in Modesto offers birth control services, emergency contraception, HPV & hepatitis vaccines, LGBT services, men's health services, pregnancy testing, options & services, STD testing & treatment, and more. We offer a wide range of services to better serve local community members who need basic medical care and support. However, because we also offer abortion our site is being targeted by anti-choice protesters each Wednesday morning and some Saturdays. These protesters seek to intimidate our clients with graphic signs and loud yelling – and do not differentiate whether a woman is receiving an OBGYN wellness exam, an abortion, or any other service that the health center offers.

We are currently looking for Client Escort Volunteers to help our clients feel safer and more comfortable. State and Federal laws ensure that the protesters cannot block the entrance to a health center, but their presence can still be intimidating to clients. Our escorts do not engage the protesters, but keep an eye on the situation to ensure that our patients are able to get to the health center and receive the services they need. Often escorts will greet clients at their cars and walk them to the door. Volunteers must believe in the Planned Parenthood mission and have a good deal of patience. A sense of humor is also helpful. PPMM is offering a Client Escort Volunteer Training on Tuesday July 28th at 6pm in Modesto.
