Contraceptive Equity Survives

SB 134 which would require health insurance companies to include contraceptives as part of their prescription drug plans was brought back to life on the Senate Floor today.  Even though the Senate Health and Human Services Committee voted the bill to the 41st day, it was revived on the floor today.

Now, the bill will go in front of the entire Senate body on Tuesday afternoon.

Please contact your Senator TODAY and tell them to support contraceptive equity.

I urge you to support this common sense public policy measure.

Passing contraceptive equity legislation just makes sense. It would improve public health in the state for both women and children because it would reduce the number of unintended pregnancies.

Approximately 80-thousand women in South Dakota need contraceptive services and devices... and the majority of South Dakotans support preventing unintended pregnancies.
