Frelinghuysen Thanks
Rep. Frelinghuysen recently joined other members of Congress in signing on to a letter urging President Bush to refrain from taking any action that would undermine funding for Title X, the nation’s family planning safety net. The letter is in response to anti-choice efforts pressuring the administration to restrict access to family planning and other basic healthcare services for millions of low-income Americans.
Rep. Frelinghuysen deserves our thanks!

A number of anti-choice organizations have recently urged President Bush to modify Title X regulations to restrict access to basic healthcare under the nation's family planning program.
The Title X program was created in 1970 with broad bipartisan support. Title X funding provides millions of Americans with complete, accurate, and unbiased information from their physicians. It also provides screening and treatment for a wide range of diseases, including breast and cervical cancer, HIV, sexually transmittee infections, high blood pressure and anemia. The vast majority of women receiving these services are at or below 150 percent of the poverty level.
By statute, Title X dollars may not be used for abortion services. Any change to the well-established regulations governing Title X are unnecessary and may block critical healthcare coverage for many Americans.
