Tom Kean, Jr. Tom Kean, Jr., New Jersey State Senator, is running for U.S. Senate. While he describes himself as pro-choice, Tom Kean, Jr. favors parental notification laws and opposes late-term abortions (Kornacki, 11/10/05). Tom Kean, Jr. supported the nomination of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court. Planned Parenthood opposed the nomination of Alito due to his record of ruling against reproductive rights. In the New Jersey Senate, Kean, Jr. voted in support of contraceptive equity, in support of a bill establishing a pharmacy's duty to fill valid prescriptions, and in support of a bill requiring hospital emergency rooms to offer emergency contraception to survivors of sexual assault.
