REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH UPDATES
Morning Session:
Birth Control Update
Facilitator: Evelyn Ting
The United States leads most countries in the rate of unplanned teen pregnancies, with about one million teen pregnancies each year. Providing clients with information that will maximize consistent and correct use of whatever method best fits their individual lifestyle can greatly influence contraception effectiveness. A detailed update covering methods of contraception will be provided. A discussion of obstacles to effective contraceptive use and information on educational tools will assist youth professionals in working with their clients about their contraceptive needs.
Continental breakfast will be included.

Afternoon Session:
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIS) Update
Facilitator: Sarah Jach
In the United States, millions of young people each year contract a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Some infections are curable or can resolve themselves, while others remain with the person throughout their lifetime. Untreated infections in young people can have long-lasting, and potentially debilitating effects. Although there has been an increase in teens' use of condoms, work is needed to help youth with information and skills to lower the risk of infection. This update will cover current information and trends related to STIs affecting youth and young adults.
