Safe Sex 101: What You Should Have Learned in High School

Did you know that 1 in 4 teen girls has an STI?

Did you know that Texas has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates?

Policy makers have spent more than $1.5 billion since 1996 for abstinence only education.  Despite research that shows that these programs are ineffective, policy makers continue to advocate and provide funding for them.  Abstinence based sex education does not provide information to teens about protecting themselves.

Students in public schools should know how to protect themselves!

Safe Sex 101 is a chance for college students to learn the information left out of their high school curriculums and to learn how to advocate for a change in sex education.  Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Join us for a one-day seminar on sexual health.  You can also network with students from other schools and brainstorm on how to support comprehensive sex education in Texas schools.

Saturday, October 25, 2008
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

There is a small registration fee of $15 (Lunch and a t-shirt will be provided) in order to attend.

After the seminar, there will be a mixer for those interested at the Blue Mesa Grill, please indicate on your registration if you are interested in attending.

To sign up or to find out more information, contact Denise Rodríguez at info.public@ppnt.org or 214-363-2004 ext 185.
