Thank Malcolm Smith for his Promise

Imagine a New York that ensures every woman has the right to make the decision that is best for herself, her family, and her future.  Imagine a New York that strengthens the rights of our mothers, our sisters and our daughters. Imagine a New York that is committed to the next generation of women.

That New York is possible if we pass the Reproductive Health Act.

The exciting news?

On January 12th, our newly elected NYS Senate Majority Leader, Malcolm Smith, stood in front of hundreds of Planned Parenthood supporters and promised that, this year, the Reproductive Health Act will pass in the Senate.

That's a really important development. Having Majority Leader Smith's backing is crucial.

Please take a moment to thank him and remind him that he has your complete support in getting the Reproductive Health Act passed.

Keep up the good fight,

Melissa

Subject: Thank You for your leadership on the Reproductive Health Act!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to thank you for the promise you made at the 2009 FPA Conference to pass the Reproductive Health Act this year. We are so thrilled to have your support and leadership in the New York State Senate. We must act now to uphold our state's strong legacy of protecting women's health and we know, with your help, we can finally make this bill a reality.

Sincerely,

Background Information

 What the Reproductive Health Act Does

The Reproductive Health Act

·         guarantees a woman’s right to control her reproductive health;

·         ensures that a woman will be able to have an abortion if her health is endangered;

·         treats the regulation of abortion as an issue of public health and medical practice, rather than as a potential crime; and guarantees everyone the right to use or refuse contraception
